Several new books have been added to the Berkey library:
Everything Happens for a Reason, by Kate Bowler who is very sick, and no amount of positive thinking will shrink her tumors. What does it mean to die, she wonders, in a society that insists everything happens for a reason? Kate is stripped of this certainty only to discover that without it, life is hard but beautiful in a way it never has been before.
Becoming, by Michelle Obama who narrates with grace, good humor, and uncommon candor. She provides a vivid, behind-the-scenes account of her family’s history-making launch into the global limelight as well as their life inside the White House over eight momentous years–as she comes to know her country and her country comes to know her.
On the Wings of Peace, by various writers and illustrators who speak out for peace, in memory of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Events of the twentieth century have brought changes that now make going to war, for any reason, obsolete. The heroes of the twenty-first century will be men and women who find alternatives to war.
