“What the World is Like. . .” The forty days of Lent commemorate the forty days that Jesus fasted and was tempted in the wilderness. This is a season of prayer, fasting and repentance, a time to re-center ourselves on God’s will and the coming of God’s reign.
This year, our Lenten worship theme is “What the World is Like.” During our worship services, we will explore a selection of Jesus’ parables in Matthew’s gospel as a way to reflect both on the brokenness of this world, including ourselves, and on the in-breaking of God’s new world through Jesus. During these weeks of Lent, allow yourself to slow down, to pay attention, and to breathe in the story that Jesus tells, embodies, and invites us to live.
