Tour de FarmThe first Tour de Farm will bring together Goshen Farmers Market customers and good food at one of its vendors farms. The market, operated by a non-profit corporation, is planning the first event locally to bike from the market to the Fritz Miller farm. After a farm tour, people will be able to enjoy strawberry shortcake.

Starting at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, customers will ride bike from the market, 212 W. Washington St., Goshen, to the farm at 62801 E. County Line Road, Goshen.

From 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., tours will be given at the farm. And then participants will be able to enjoy strawberry shortcake provided by Fish Lake Berries (Miller’s business) and Clay Bottom Farm.

People can also drive to the farm for the tour, but biking is encouraged. The route is about 11 miles each way. This is a fundraiser for the market to help defray costs. The suggested donation is $25 per person, $18 per youth 16 and under or $100 for a group of five.

Similar events have been done in other communities, but this is a first for the Goshen market, which is in its 12th season. It has one of the few Community Supported Agriculture programs in the country that allows customers to pick the produce they want from the farmers at the market. The market is open from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturdays year round and 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesdays in the summer.
