Three books and a set of DVDs have been recently donated to the library:
A Palestinian Theology of Liberation: The Bible, Justice, and the Palestine-Israel Conflict, by Naim Stifan Ateek who writes with the integrity of a participant-observer. In this book we hear the scream and the whisper of the poor, the sounds of death in the Occupied Territories, but also the whisper of life, resisting and offering hope for all of us.
A Moment of Weakness, by Karen Kingsbury whose message shines clear and strong: Our loving God is a God of second chances.
Every Storm, by Lori Wick. In l945 Rigg thought about his ideals as he’d entered the war. He told the Lord he was up for anything. He told God and his family that if he had to lay down his life for his country, he was willing. Read about the surprising circumstances that come into play when he is sent to a South Pacific island where he encounters the lone survivor of a plane crash who is a woman, nearly starved to death.
The Purpose Driven Life, by Rick Warren (an 8 disc set of DVDs) which offers a blueprint for Christian living in the 21st Century–a lifestyle based on God’s eternal purposes, not cultural values. It challenges the conventional definitions of worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and evangelism.
