Summary
I remember exactly where this book was located on our family bookshelf while I was growing up. It was the bottom shelf, because this book was too big and too thick for the other shelves. As a child, I would often use this book for non-reading purposes. As a hard backing to draw on. As a base for a tower of blocks. As part of a ramp for my Hot Wheels.
I used this book for all of those things, but I was always very careful with it. That’s because I knew what this book was about. Its red-speckled spine communicated its content just as well as its title: The Bloody Theater or Marytrs Mirror of the Defenseless Christians who Baptized Only Upon Confession of Faith, and Who Suffered and Died for the Testimony of Jesus, Their Savior, from the Time of Christ to the Year A.D. 1660.
