Four new books have been added to our library:
1. Reading the Bible as if Jesus Mattered, by Duane Beachey. The author calls us to read the Bible with Jesus as a plumb line. It is one of the most accessible and powerful manifestos on what it means to be a faithful, biblically grounded disciple of Jesus.
2. Supportive Care in the Congregation: Providing a congregational network of care for persons with significant disabilities, by Dean Preheim-Bartel, Aldred Neufeldt, Paul D. Leichty and Christine Guth. This is a revised and updated edition of a 1986 version which includes three new chapters. Readers are offered ways to build supportive, caring and inclusive communities of faith.
3. Accessible Gospel, Inclusive Worship, by Barbara J. Newman. This book gives practical hands-on strategies and hope-filled stories to help all of us see that inclusion of persons with disabilities is essential.
4. Benefit of the Doubt: Breaking the Idol of Certainty, by Gregory A. Boyd. Presented in a Sunday School class at Berkey several months ago, this book is a help to doubters and non-doubters everywhere. Boyd invites you to embrace a faith that doesn’t strive for certainty but rather for commitment to Christ in the midst of uncertainty.
